Concord, MA – Historic Renovation

THE CHALLENGE: RESTORATION OF A HISTORICAL BUILDING IN THE HEART OF A BUSY TOWN CENTER.

The friend block restoration project brought a unique set of challenges.

The 11,740 square foot size, on the National Registry of Historic Places, was originally constructed in 1892. Adapting it for retail and office space with handicap access required a complete gutted out renovation implementing many new structural elements to comply with today’s code standards.

Since there were no designated parking areas adjacent to the building, we had to quickly feed public meters to deliver material, load, and unload the company trucks.

The work scope included a new elevator, stairways, correct divided light windows, roof, and sprinkler and electrical systems.

Our team also completed a thorough cleaning and restoration of the brick facade, bringing the building back to its original character with a renewed vitality.

The work received the 2018 presentation award for “Proper Rehabilitation/Restoration from the Concord Energy Efficient Project of the Year.
